2026-2027 Biology Opportunity for Rising 8th Graders

2026-2027 Biology Opportunity for Rising 8th Graders
Updated

Learn more about Biology at OMS!

As a part of Osborne Middle School’s initiative to offer the most challenging academic opportunities available for our students, we will be offering high school Biology for 8th-grade students for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This class will be in addition to the physical science class that is required of all 8th graders and this class will be taught at OMS from 7:50 AM - 8:50 AM every day at Osborne Middle School.  Parents must provide transportation to school each morning, as this class meets before school.

A $400.00 fee is required to enroll in Biology and parents must provide student transportation every morning. The class meets daily, which may impact your child’s ability to participate in before-school clubs, activities, and rehearsals.

Upon successful completion of this course, students may opt to receive a Carnegie unit credit for this course. This course will require an End Of Course Test (EOC) that counts 20% of the total grade. The expectation for ninth grade is that all students who successfully complete this course will take either AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, or Chemistry as a high school freshman.

If you are interested in having your child participate in this course, complete the interest form in the link here by March 9, 2026.

Should more students apply than spots are available, a lottery drawing will take place in March. Enrollment verification letters will be emailed home once the rosters have been finalized. Those accepted will need to pay the $400 course fee in MyPayments Plus by Friday, April 3rd. The course fee will be non-refundable after the 2nd week of classes in the fall.
