Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures
Student Drop Off (Mornings)
-
School starts at 9:20 a.m., and car rider drop-off will start at 8:55 a.m. Please do not stop or park in the car rider lane. This lane is for drive-through and drop-off only for students attending sports practice, clubs, and student drop off after 8:55 am. Additionally, for safety reasons, students may only exit a vehicle at the designated unloading lane on the side of the school.
- Due to safety reasons, students should not be dropped off at or near:
- The Mill Creek HS tennis courts (at the top of the hill).
- Designated bus lanes.
- Front entrance of the school.
- Students should not be dropped off before 8:50 am on Mondays and Fridays. Monday and Friday mornings are designated for teacher and staff planning, parent conferences, meetings, and professional learning. However, we will continue to offer Help Days on Tuesdays (Language Arts/Science), Wednesdays (Math/Social Studies), and Thursdays (Connections) from 8:15 am - 8:55 am. All students dropped off at school Tuesday through Thursday will be required to attend Help Days. If teachers determine that a student does not need the extra assistance offered during our three weekly Help Days, they will remind the parent and student that school is not open until 8:55 am.
- On Help Days, students may be dropped off at 8:00 am. Students arriving between 8:00-8:10 am will wait in the cafeteria. At 8:10 am, all students will be dismissed to their Help Day sessions which begin promptly at 8:15. Students should not be dropped off after 8:15 am.
-
We ask parents to drop students off along the car rider curb outside of the lunchroom and not use the main entrance. Parents should be instructed to pull all the way forward before students exit their cars. This allows more cars to unload at a time, which speeds up the unloading process. The front office entrance is reserved for students needing additional assistance.
-
If your student arrives after 9:20 am, you can drop your student off at the school’s front entrance. Students will be allowed in the building and receive a tardy note to take to their teacher. Please do not park your vehicle in the road at the front lobby entrance.
Student Pick Up (Afternoons)
-
In an effort to avoid car lines backed-up onto Braselton Highway and maintain safety, we allow two ways (other than buses) to pick students up after school.
-
The recommended procedure to pick up students is for parents to wait in the carrider line. Students will wait in a designated area next to the building. Once a group of ten to twelve cars pull up along the school side curb, students will be released to get in the cars. When those cars exit another group of cars will pull up and the process will continue until all cars are gone.
-
An alternative method to pick up students after school requires parents to park in the high school lot near the tennis courts (Osborne Walker Lot). This lot should be empty since high school students were dismissed earlier.
