Mission:
The mission of the competition robotics teams is to provide students with the opportunity to explore, create, and innovate by putting together electrical and mechanical parts into robots. These robots are then programmed to take them into competitions at the county, state and world levels. Students code and apply science, language arts and math aiming to get them better opportunities for college and career within the aspirations of a future full of opportunities within the GCPS and OMS portrait of a graduate.
Description of Activities:
The competition robotics teams meet twice per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Thursday evenings may be scheduled as needed to keep up with our goal of competing at Worlds. Registrations are being accepted to create four teams of 5-6 team members. Each team builds their own robot. There is a fee of $150 per accepted and registered student.
There is also a robotics club that only meets on Tuesday mornings just to tinker and play with robots. Upto 15 students will be allowed to register. There is a fee of $30 to cover the club t-shirt.
Meeting Details:
The Robotics Club will meet only on Tuesdays to engage in fun learning sessions. There are no competition events associated with the robotics club. Tuesdays 8:15 - 8:50 a.m. (Please check the scheduled dates posted, it might not be every Tuesday.
The Robotics Competition Team will meet every Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:15 - 8:50 AM, and some Thursdays between 4:35 - 5:50 P.M. whenever agreed by the teams to keep up. We decide during our scheduled meetings.
VEX Robotics Competition Teams:
Regular attendance at weekly practices, and a commitment by parent(s) to attend weekly practices and weekend competitions at several locations with their student is required. No student drop-offs at events are allowed. The club fee will be collected via mypaymentsplus.
