DECA

Mission:

OMS DECA chapter is focused on developing student leaders in the areas of business, marketing, and management through leadership development, community service, and competitive events.

Description of Activities: 

OMS DECA Chapter prepares students to become leaders in business, marketing, and management through leadership development, community service, and competitive events. Members participate in chapter meetings, leadership workshops, business-related activities, and service projects that build communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Students will collaborate with the Mill Creek DECA chapter to learn about effective teamwork, leadership, and competition preparation. Members will also have the opportunity to attend the DECA Fall Rally at Six Flags, where they will participate in leadership sessions, network with other middle school DECA members, and engage in team-building experiences.

These activities provide students with a strong foundation in leadership and career readiness while preparing them for future participation in high school DECA and other career and technical education opportunities.

Student Requirements: 

• Be enrolled as a full time Osborne student and maintain good academic standing as in all A’s or A’s and B’s.
• Submit a completed membership application and pay any required local, state, and national DECA dues.
• Attend regular chapter meetings and participate in chapter activities.
• Demonstrate respectful behavior and follow all school and DECA codes of conduct. Must not have any disciple STEPs.
• Participate in at least one chapter community service project each semester.
• Participate in leadership development activities, workshops, or guest speaker events.
• Work collaboratively with fellow members and contribute positively to team activities.
• Participate in at least one competitive event, business simulation, or chapter project during the school year, when available.
• Maintain eligibility to attend field trips and conferences by following school attendance and behavior expectations.
• Represent the school and DECA professionally at meetings, competitions, conferences, and community events.

Cost:

$55 per year.
