Parent Mentor Meetings
“Locating and Understanding Resources within the Community”
For All Families of Students Receiving Special Education Services in Gwinnett County Public Schools
Presented by: Dawn Albanese - Parent Mentor, GCPS Special Education Department
Often times, families are unfamiliar with community resources that could potentially be of benefit to them. In this session, we are going to provide an overview of a few community resources families may find very helpful, such as: Family Support Funding; the NOW/COMP Medicaid Waiver; the Katie Beckett Deeming Waiver; PeachCare for Kids; and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). This session is highly recommended for families of students at all levels (elementary, middle, and high school).
